SMS Messaging Terms & Conditions

Last updated: February 2026

The Coparenting App (“we,” “us,” “our”) offers an SMS messaging service for account security verification and co-parent invite notifications. By opting in to receive text messages from The Coparenting App, you agree to the following terms.

1. Program Description

The Coparenting App sends transactional text messages only. These messages fall into two categories:

  • Account Verification (2FA): One-time verification codes sent when you verify your phone number or sign in to your account. Example: “Your Coparent App verification code is 123456. This code expires in 10 minutes. Do not share this code.”
  • Co-Parent Invite Notifications: A single notification sent when an existing user invites a co-parent to connect on the platform. Example: “The Coparenting App: [Name] invited you to connect your co-parent account. Join: [link] Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Msg&data rates may apply.”

We do not send promotional, marketing, or advertising SMS. All messages are event-driven and initiated by user action within the application.

2. Opt-In & Consent

You must provide express written consent before receiving any SMS from The Coparenting App. Consent is collected at two points:

  • Account Signup: During registration, users must check a messaging consent checkbox that reads: “I consent to receive account-related emails and text messages from The Coparenting App, including co-parent invites and security alerts. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.” The account cannot be created until this checkbox is selected.
  • Invite Flow: Before an existing user can send an SMS invite to a co-parent, the inviting user must check a consent checkbox confirming: “I confirm I have permission to contact this co-parent and consent to The Coparenting App sending account-related texts/emails for this invite. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.” The invite recipient receives a single introductory message only. No further SMS is sent to the recipient unless they create an account and opt in themselves.

Consent is recorded with a timestamp and the exact consent text, and is stored in the user's account metadata. Consent is not shared with or sold to third parties.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your use of the platform. Typical usage:

  • Verification codes: 1–3 messages per account lifecycle (initial verification, occasional re-verification). Rate-limited to a maximum of 5 per hour.
  • Invite notifications: 1 message per invite event. An invite recipient receives only a single message unless they opt in by creating an account.

In all cases, SMS is strictly event-driven and low-frequency. You will not receive recurring or scheduled messages.

4. Opt-Out Instructions

You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by:

  • Replying STOP to any message from us. You will receive a one-time confirmation: “You have been unsubscribed from The Coparenting App messages. No more messages will be sent. Reply START to re-subscribe.”
  • Updating your messaging preferences in your account settings.
  • Contacting support at support@thecoparentingapp.com.

After opting out, you will not receive any further SMS from us unless you re-subscribe by replying START, YES, or UNSTOP.

5. Help & Support

For help with our SMS service, you may:

  • Reply HELP to any message from us. You will receive: “The Coparenting App: For help, reply HELP or contact support@thecoparentingapp.com. Reply STOP to opt out. Msg&data rates may apply.”
  • Email support@thecoparentingapp.com
