At The Coparenting App, your privacy and your family's safety are our highest priorities. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our platform.
When you create an account with The Coparenting App, we collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, and any profile information you choose to add. If you connect with a co-parent, we collect information about that relationship to facilitate shared features.
We also automatically collect certain technical information when you use our platform, including your IP address, device type, browser type, operating system, and usage patterns. This helps us improve performance and diagnose issues.
When you use features such as messaging, calendar, expense tracking, or document sharing, the content you create (messages, events, receipts, files) is stored securely on our servers to provide the service.
We use your information to provide, maintain, and improve our co-parenting platform. This includes facilitating communication between co-parents, managing shared calendars and expenses, storing documents, and enabling other core features.
We may use anonymized, aggregated data to understand usage trends and improve our product. We may also use your email address to send important service updates, security alerts, and, with your consent, occasional product newsletters. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
Our AI-powered features, such as tone monitoring, process message content locally to provide real-time suggestions. We do not use your private messages to train external AI models.
We take the security of your family’s data extremely seriously. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256 encryption. Messages between co-parents are secured with end-to-end encryption.
We implement industry-standard security measures including regular security audits, intrusion detection systems, and strict access controls. Our infrastructure is hosted on SOC 2-compliant cloud providers.
While no system is 100% secure, we continuously invest in security improvements and promptly address any identified vulnerabilities. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users within 72 hours as required by applicable law.
The Coparenting App sends transactional text messages for account verification (one-time codes) and co-parent invite notifications. We do not send promotional, marketing, or advertising SMS. All messages are event-driven and initiated by user action.
You must provide express written consent before receiving any SMS. During signup, you must check a messaging consent checkbox that discloses message types, frequency, and opt-out instructions. Before sending an SMS invite, the inviting user must confirm they have permission to contact the recipient. Consent is timestamped and stored with your account metadata.
Message frequency varies. Verification codes are sent 1–3 times per account lifecycle. Invite notifications are limited to 1 message per invite event. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by contacting support@thecoparentingapp.com. Reply HELP for help. For full SMS terms, see our SMS Messaging Terms at thecoparentingapp.com/sms-terms.
Phone numbers collected for SMS are used solely to deliver the messages described above. We do not sell, rent, or share phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Period.
We may share limited data with trusted service providers who help us operate the platform, such as cloud hosting providers (Vercel, Supabase), email delivery services, and payment processors. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
If required by law, court order, or legal process, we may disclose information to law enforcement or other authorities. We will notify you of such requests when legally permitted to do so.
You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal information at any time. You can update your profile information directly in the app, and you can request a full export of your data through your account settings.
If you wish to delete your account, you may do so through the app settings or by contacting us at support@thecoparentingapp.com. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or necessary for legitimate business purposes (such as court-ready records you’ve explicitly chosen to preserve).
If you are a resident of California, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under the CCPA, GDPR, or UK GDPR respectively. Please contact us to exercise these rights.
The Coparenting App is designed for use by adults (parents, guardians, and family law professionals). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
While co-parents may share information about their children within the platform (such as schedules and health records), this information is strictly controlled by the parents and is not accessible to anyone outside the co-parenting relationship.
If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take immediate steps to delete that information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or through a prominent notice on our platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
